This atmospheric cityscape showcases Havard's masterful command of light and architecture. The artwork captures Cirencester's historic church tower rising above rain-slicked streets, rendered in a harmonious palette of golds and blues that shimmer across the wet pavement.
Havard's distinctive palette knife technique is evident in his sophisticated handling of natural and artificial light. His careful attention to the interplay between the illuminated tower and the surrounding buildings creates a piece that perfectly captures the town's timeless character, transforming this Cotswold scene into a luminous meditation on heritage and atmosphere.
About The Artist
Benoît Havard, born in 1981 in Orléans, France, discovered his artistic passion at age six, nurtured by museum visits with his mother where he was particularly influenced by the dynamic works of landscape painter Michel Jouenne. His formal training began at the École des Beaux-Arts de Cherbourg under mentors Lejeune and Valadié.
By age 19, Havard had committed to painting full-time, initially exploring watercolors during Moroccan travels before finding his signature style with oils and palette knife. His distinctive urban landscapes capture the emotional essence of cities through luminescent, dream-like interpretations.
Havard's technique prioritizes spontaneity and the interplay of light and contrast over precise detail. His process begins with atmospheric backgrounds before introducing elements of urban life, using transparency and textural effects to create movement. Since 2004, his work has gained recognition across European galleries, earning him prestigious exhibition honors and placement in notable collections, including Louis Vuitton's private collection.
