Marion Smylie

Found natural materials, kingfisher feathers, bees wings, cultivated mycelium, thread

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The ‘paper’ is made from cultivated mycelium (from an Oyster Mushroom) which was then dried. Found objects include kingfisher feathers and bumble bee wings. Earth Spell is a call to re-enchantment with the non-human world.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

My arts practice is concerned with encouraging a re-engagement with the other-than-human. Fundamental to my practice is to work ethically with care and respect. I work with plants, fungi, soil, rocks, and found objects. I am currently studying for a Masters in Fine Art at Plymouth College of Art.
