SKU: Time003

Graphite, paper, glass vial containing eraser / drawing residue, wire

8x8 Inches

A drawing made by writing the word ‘time’ continuously for an hour. When the circle is
covered in text, the words are erased, and the writing begins again. This process was
repeated continuously for an hour between 1700 and 1800 hours on 17 March 2022.
The residue of this hour of time (the eraser crumbs) were gathered and placed in the
glass vial.

  • Carrie Mason is a visual artist based in Dorset. She graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth with BA (Hons) Fine Art (2016) and MA Fine Art in 2017. Her practice includes drawing, printmaking, sculpture, video, and performance.
Exploring the challenges of living in an age of distraction, which is too often experienced only virtually, Carrie uses drawing to reconnect with real time and the physicality of materials. Through often painstakingly repetitive mark making, durational drawings and an experimental approach to materials she uses her process to record a sense of time and connection with her environment.
