This tranquil seascape showcases Payne's masterful command of evening light and reflection. The artwork features distant navigation posts silhouetted against a golden sunset sky, their forms mirrored in the still waters below.
Payne's distinctive style is evident in his sophisticated handling of color and atmosphere. His careful attention to the interplay between the warm amber sky and cool blue waters creates a piece that perfectly embodies its title, capturing that magical moment when the setting sun transforms the western horizon into bands of luminous color reflected across the peaceful waters.
About The Artist
Ben Jeffrey, born in 1986 in Barnet, north London, discovered his artistic calling early in life, inspired by his family connection to renowned 18th-century watercolorist John Varley. His passion for art flourished during secondary school, where informal portrait competitions with classmates helped develop his skills.
Though formally educated in art through university level, Jeffrey's distinctive technique is largely self-taught, developing through experimentation with oil paints and color. His process typically involves two stages: establishing base colors across the canvas, followed by detailed layering, with compositions that evolve organically during creation.
Jeffrey's diverse portfolio spans portraits and landscapes, characterized by vivid colors and a modern style influenced by his love of sci-fi films and concept art. Drawing inspiration from the stunning landscapes of Herefordshire and the Isle of Harris, where his family has homes, he combines traditional oil painting techniques with contemporary vision.
Despite exploring digital art, Jeffrey remains committed to traditional oils, believing in their unmatched depth and tactile quality.
