The Bee Sting Original Art by Ben Jeffery
Acrylic Painting
Framed: 80cm x 80cm
This powerful monochromatic piece showcases Jeffrey's masterful command of dramatic composition and historical detail. The artwork captures Muhammad Ali's iconic moment over a fallen opponent, rendered with striking contrast and dynamic energy that emphasizes Ali's legendary presence in the ring.
Jeffrey's distinctive style is evident in his precise rendering and sophisticated handling of light and shadow. His careful attention to the raw emotion of the moment, from Ali's triumphant stance to the crowd's reaction in the background, creates a piece that perfectly embodies its title, suggesting the swift and decisive nature of Ali's famous "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee" philosophy.
About The Artist
Ben Jeffrey, born in 1986 in Barnet, north London, discovered his artistic calling early in life, inspired by his family connection to renowned 18th-century watercolorist John Varley. His passion for art flourished during secondary school, where informal portrait competitions with classmates helped develop his skills.
Though formally educated in art through university level, Jeffrey's distinctive technique is largely self-taught, developing through experimentation with oil paints and color. His process typically involves two stages: establishing base colors across the canvas, followed by detailed layering, with compositions that evolve organically during creation.
Jeffrey's diverse portfolio spans portraits and landscapes, characterized by vivid colors and a modern style influenced by his love of sci-fi films and concept art. Drawing inspiration from the stunning landscapes of Herefordshire and the Isle of Harris, where his family has homes, he combines traditional oil painting techniques with contemporary vision.
Despite exploring digital art, Jeffrey remains committed to traditional oils, believing in their unmatched depth and tactile quality.
