‘Water Folds’ is an exploration of the senses, combining sight and touch into a mixed media, sculptural work. The fluid aesthetics of the pieces suggest at moving and running water, wrapped within a small petri dish, as though captured for later exploration under a microscope. Yet, the piece is soft to the touch, and tracible with the fingers, unlike what can be experienced with any water. Through ‘Water Folds’, Williams has created both a suspension of time and moving timeline. The two work in tandem – the water-like features captured forever more, still and silent, but the interactive nature of the work drawing the viewer in to explore through touch.
