Coffee grounds and ink

38 x 28 cm

The artwork is made up of several layers of coffee washes, and then worked into using brown ink to add detail. It is inspired by the busyness and energy that coffee is known to bring.

  • Bandurek Bradbury lives in Cambridgeshire, UK, and is of mixed English and Polish heritage. She is a visual artist mostly working with acrylic paint and ink. Philippa is interested in how character and personality present themselves visually, and how the aesthetics of a subject can influence medium. Her style is characterised by tonal layers creating depth and texture, with elements of ambiguity using cropping and unusual perspectives.

Her work leans towards a saturated colour palette to illustrate how autistic people see the world slightly differently, and can suffer from sensory overload. Her work also includes mark making with ink, using the repetition of moving the pen in a certain way as a stimming effect.
