Mill Hill Park Sunset (9) Original by Diana Sandetskaya
Acrylic on canvas
This is one of the series of paintings of Mill Hill Park sunsets. I have been observing sunsets there for a while, capturing the most striking ones in my paintings. I was inspired by colours of the sky, light of the setting sun, silhouettes of trees in the distance, the goalposts and the quiet, peaceful feeling of the passing day.
Mill Hill Park is my local park, where my family and I spent a lot of our time, walking the dog, meeting friends, or just briefly passing through. During the lockdown it has become much more of a centre of local life. Even though it is the same place, it is also different every time, depending on weather, light, season, time of the day or time of the week, our mood or company - sometimes empty and desolate, sometimes quiet and romantic, bustling with life and energy, often presenting stunning skies, sunsets, colours and scenes.
Diana Sandetskaya is a self-taught artist based in North London. She was born in Russia and moved to London in 2010.
Diana is inspired by her own personal, sentimental experiences and is fuelled by an acute existential feeling of an unstoppable flow of time. Her work is a diary of what she has seen and experienced and what she felt was beautiful – visually and emotionally.
During lockdown, Diana has been exploring and capturing “beauty on our door step” – places in our immediate neighbourhood where we can find incredible beauty and admire forever changing scenery presented by nature at a time where there is a limited opportunity for new sensory and visual experiences. Diana works in oils, and paints in a style that references Realism and Romanticism. Her work has been shown at solo exhibitions and art fairs in London, as well as group shows in London, Kent and Hertfordshire.
