Deborah Watts is a mixed media artist from Norwich, UK, who specialises in animal and wildlife portraiture; attempting to capture the individual character and personality that each one possesses. She also enjoys painting human portraits and landscapes. More often than not, these landscapes are derived from her vivid imagination, frequently echoing snapshots of nature predominantly unseen by the naked eye.
She has always been interested in art and crafts from an early age despite being discouraged by her high school art teachers. Subsequently, she did not start drawing and painting seriously until she was on maternity leave over a decade after leaving education.
Though she is a mixed media artist, Deborah has a particular penchant for charcoal and oil paint, finding the energy they create to be powerful and emotional. She also isn’t afraid to use unconventional methods, often putting down her brushes in favour of using her fingers and other unorthodox items to enhance her work.
She wishes for her work to make an emotional connection with the viewer.
