Have They Always Been Like That? Original by Ali El-Chaer
acrylic paint
Being a trans person in the south is already hard enough, especially with the restrictions beginning to spread on trans healthcare in America. Recently I was directed to a “trans specialist” in Nashville who ended up being one of the worst doctors I have ever met. I wanted to make a piece about one of the exchanges we had while screening for breast cancer.
I am a genderqueer Palestinian-American artist (they/he) currenlty living in Nashville, Tennessee. I am always striving to incorporate interpersonal emotions and experiences to relate to a specific audience so that no one has to be alone. I use my work to raise money for activist causes and to bring awareness of the mistreatment happening in the world.
